Various thoughts on creating, sharing, organizing and enjoying music.

How to Use Myspace to Quickly Share Music

Eclectic Vibes

I got around to logging into Myspace again today. I never really used it in its original incarnation. Truth be told, I wanted to know what it was before when my daughter signed up for an account. Although I’ve known that it was more of sharing space for music now, I hadn’t spent much time with it. That changed today.

Easier Way to Update Album Artwork

Music

After my long rant against WMP, I found a more elegant solution to my problem in iTunes. The answer was right under my nose, well touch-pad, so to speak. All I had to do was use the “Clear Album Artwork” option on my collection which removes the iTunes artwork, but not the embedded artwork.

Fly Me To The Moon Soundtrack

Music

I uploaded a slightly longer version of the “Fly Me To the Moon” song to ACIDplanet.com. It isn’t much of a soundtrack since there is only one song. I created this version first but it was too long for the animation. The shorter version in the video was an edited remix of this one.

Halo Reach Music

Halo Reach Music

Bungie just released the snippet of soundtrack for the premier trailer: Lone Wolf. The iTunes purest in me couldn’t live with the default no album art found image, so I created one! Here is the Halo: Reach album art at 640x640. And no, I didn’t bother to add any text.

Getting Comfortable With iTunes Home

Music

I had read a bit about the new iTunes 9’s home feature. Unfortunately, trying to use it is a different matter. First off, using it requires you to log into your iTunes account. I’m assuming this is so you can transfer your old non-iTunes plus DRM laden music.

Updating iTunes - More Genius?

Music

Well, iTunes 8.0.1 is out and purports to fix a few bugs and improve performance. It also cleans up Genius a bit — including simulations play and create Genius playlists. I’m hoping for an update to include Genius in my G3 nano. I can wish right?

iTunes and Format Confusion

Music

My foray into music formats was the WAV (waveform audio format). If you rip a CD into the WAV format you are getting an uncompressed, lossless, and very large audio file. When I was using this format, and considering hard drives were pretty small in the late ‘90s, I didn’t rip many CD’s.

Just Strumming Around

Music

Well, after I broke one of the strings on my guitar trying to reattach the amp connector, I decided it would be a good time to restring it. I hadn’t played it in so long that it wasn’t in tune anyway. Since the family isn’t home, I’m pretty free to sing and not get heckled too much. The dogs still growled a bit at me.

Disney Mix Stick Pain

Music

Well, the wife received a Pixie Power Disney mix-stick for Christmas this year. I know, it is marketed for kids, but it an interesting shuffle like MP3 player. Yeah, no screen, but with a 1GB of flash RAM, expandable with an SD card, it appeared to be a great little player. That is, if you can get the music on it to play!

In My Head

Music

I uploaded a new song to my ACID Planet Site today called In My Head. Something I started on the plane today to pass away the time. I wanted to put together something that felt like things weren’t right — like something is in my head, needing to get out. Interestingly, this isn’t at all how I was feeling, just what I musically wanted to mix together. Enjoy.

Updated ACID Planet Picture

Updated ACID Planet Picture

Well, I didn’t add any new songs, but I did add a new image to my ACID Planet site. I used a photo I took when camping a few years back. I played around with filters and special effects in Microsoft Digital Image Suite to set the mood I was looking for. I think it came out pretty nicely.

Croak

Music

Okay, was playing around with ACID loops again. I've added another song to my ACID Planet site called Croak. This time, I’m playing with different sounds and beats to get a unique feel. Again, this one isn’t very long, so enjoy!

Speed Me Up

Music

I added a new song to my ACID Planet site called Speed Me Up. I took an Asian melody and threw various electronic and heavy riffs at it. Not very long, unlike my earlier attempts, so give it a play!
