If you are like me and can’t stand to see the default “missing album art” icon in your iTunes or iPod Cover Flow — you know who you are — then I have a place for you. This is for those albums and songs that iTunes has a hard time finding or, worse, pulls down the wrong or oddly formated cover. Yes, I know you can head over to Amazon and pull one from there but I find them of poor quality or with annoying white bands. Fortunately, for the anal-retentive folks in the audience, there is The Album Art Exchange.

So far, I’ve been extremely pleased at the quality and selection of the album art they have. To quote from the site, the Album Art Exchange is “dedicated to collecting and sharing meticulously scanned and edited album cover art, for those of us who are ridiculously obsessive about such things.” There are times when I can’t find the album I need and have to resort to scanning my own CD’s or doing a bit of Internet searching. But if the album can be found on the site, and it usually can be, the album art is usually a high quality 800x600 scanned image. Now, if I can just find a program that prevents WMP from messing up my embedded album art.
